In order for the record to be official, fans were required to don the sombreros that were distributed upon entry into the stadium at the same time for at least five minutes. The unofficial total of people wearing sombreros inside Angel Stadium for the record was 25,111."Sixth straight year of going for a world record now and next year, hopefully, it'll be seven," Angels Marketing Director Kevin Shaw said, via FOX Sports. "Now it's something that people actually point to on their calendar and look forward to see how they can be a part of a Guinness World Record." In addition to the sombrero record, other Guinness World Records that have been set at Angel Stadium involve Snuggies, wrestling masks, cowboy hats, wigs and Santa hats.
